  YEAR 2011

2 Days Workshop on Compositions of Sri Hari Nagabhushanam by Sri Hari Atchutarama Sastry, Chennai, during January, 2011
A Lec-dem on Bhajana Sampradaya and Harikatha Compositions by Sri Vankayala Narasimham, Visakhapatnam, during May, 2011
A Lecture on Gurukula Sampradaya and Guru-Shishya Parampara by Sri Annavarapu Ramaswamy, Vijayawada, during May, 2011

All these programmes were a grand success and received the appreciation from one and all. 

Apart from these, the Staff and Students of ‘Bhairavi’ have given a number of performances in various concerts organized by the Sabhas and Temples of Hyderabad on several occasions.

Concert by Students of Bhairavi Sangeeta Academy with exclusive compositions of Sri Duddu Seetharama Sastry and a Grand Veena Recital by ‘Veena Praveena’ Sri Duddu Seetharamaiah (Grandson of Sri Duddu Seetharama Sastry)
A ‘Unique Music Competition’ conducted for the students of Bhairavi Sangeeta Academy during November-December, 2010 to give a one year scholarship to a meritorious student which was held in five rounds on five consecutive Sundays from the 28th of November, 2010 to 26th of December, 2010. ‘Sangeetacharya’ Dr. Vyzarsu Balasubrahmanyam and Smt. Vyzarsu Pavani, Founders and Faculty of Bhairavi Sangeeta Academy acted as the judges for this competition which was witnessed by many parents and learned musicians. 
   The five rounds of the competition were:

  Round II  -  05.12.2010   -     Singing Sarali to Alankaras in 5 Ragas & 6 Speeds

Round V  -    25.12.2010    -  Laya Orientation (With Metronome) (Jati Alankaras, Avartanta Khanda Virupu, Trisra, Khanda, Misra Virupu-s, Muktayi-s (5,6,7,9 varieties) in Rupaka, Adi, Trisra gati Adi, Khanda Chapu and Misra Chapu tala-s etc.)

Presided over by Sri G.V. Subrahmanyam, Ex-Vice Chancellor, P.S. Telugu University, there were Speakers like Dr. V. Phaniendra Kumar (Voice Specialist), Sri Koniki Satyanarayana Rao and Sri Chaganti Kapaleswara Rao, apart from the Founder of the Academy, Sri Vyzarsu Balasubrahmanyam who was the major Speaker 

 

(Topics covered  - Voice Culture, Laya, Svara-s and Raga-s, Gamaka-s, Reading and Writing Notation, Guidelines for Manodharma, Music Appreciation, Teaching Rare Varnam and Interactive Session)

A 10 days Workshop on ‘Teaching Rare Varnams’ during May, 2003 

 

(Vaggeyakaras and eminent Artists have written a number of Varnams, of which many are not widely available to the common man. Sri. V. Balasubrahmanyam, the Founder/Director of the Academy has a collection of a record 1000 vintage varnams of earlier composers, which he is expecting to publish in the due course. From among these, he taught the participants a few of them.)
