Bhairavi Sangeeta
Academy is a Hyderabad based non-profit organization
dedicated to impart value-based training in Carnatic
music. The focus of the Academy is on professional
training and it also facilitates research in Carnatic
music. The Academy was founded in the year 1996 and
registered in 2001 with the objective of invigorating
Carnatic music with a hope to reach out to the world
through relevant channels and have a better
understanding of the profundity of Carnatic music and
its rich traditions.
The Academy runs under the able
guidance of the Founder-Director, ‘Sangeetacharya’ Dr.
Vyzarsu Balasubrahmanyam, who is armed with two Doctoral
degrees in Carnatic Music (Vocal) - a Doctorate for
Ph.D., (Music) from the University of Delhi and also ‘Sangeetacharya’,
the Doctoral Title from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva
Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Miraj – a Deemed University. He
has established himself as an eminent Musician,
Musicologist, Composer and a Guru of high repute. He
follows a unique teaching method in imparting training
to students with a passion reminiscent of the guru-shishya
parampara of the yore. This approach not only provides
exposure and guides the student’s development, but also
supports and facilitates the independent growth of the
student to become a Professional. In this process of
training and research, he is supported by the services
of his wife Smt. Vyzarsu Pavani, a Gold-Medallist in
M.A., (Veena), who has also done her M.Phil., (Music)
and is the Founder-Secretary of the Academy.
The Academy takes special interest in encouraging the
talented young musicians by giving them the required
platforms and appreciative audience. Being the need of
the hour, the Academy organizes several educative
programmes including concerts, with a judicious mix of
Seniors and emerging artistes.
While the Academy is keen to carry out its objectives
with funds generated through the years, it has to rely
on sponsorship and contributions to the Corpus Fund to
maintain the momentum.
The Academy welcomes ideas, suggestions and
contributions too.
